SUMMARY:SIDE LAUNCH CHALLENGE - Collingwood\, ON
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to be heading back to Collingwood for the SIDE LAUNCH CHALLENGE on August 7th\, 2021.  Traditionally a 2 day event with sprint racing\, technical racing and distance race\, we have scaled back the event this year due to the short notice.  We will be moving the event venue to Harbourview Park and the Birch Street paddling dock to provide additional space for social distancing\, abundant parking and lots of green space for sponsor tents and board staging. \nNew this year\, for those that are in the local area\, or travelling to Collingwood the day before the event\, on Friday evening we will be hosting a SUP social at the event site.  The idea is to gather for an informal and leisurely paddle around Collingwood Harbour.  Starboard and Blu Wave Team Riders will be on hand to provide informal instruction and tips to novice and open racers\, so we highly recommend that new racers attend to get some one on one time with our elite racers.   The SUP social will kick off at 7pm from the Birch Street launch\, so please arrive at 6:30 pm to be ready to launch at 7pm. \nWe will continue to have COVID protocols  in place.   There will be NO ON-SITE registration\, and awards will be done virtually on our Facebook page after the event.  Masks will be mandatory at check in and during the pre-race meeting when social distancing may be difficult to maintain. \nFriday\, August 6th \nSUP SOCIAL – Join elite racers and Team Riders from Blu Wave and Starboard for an informal leisure paddle on Collingwood Harbour\, with the opportunity to learn some tips and tricks from top racers in Ontario.  Totally optional\, totally free and totally fun! \nCheck-in/Arrival:  6:30 pm \nOn the Water:  7:00 pm \nSaturday\, August 7th \nCheck-in 8:45 am – 9:30 am \n9:30 Racer Meeting \n10:00 Race(s) Start (we will send Novice racers out first\, followed by Elite and Open) \nAwards posted on Facebook by our Prize Sponsors\, Olukai\, Georgian Bay Spirit Co.\, Rally Beer Co. and Epic North Coffee Roasters. \nThere are several race categories and distances. DESCRIPTION:Race Type\nThis is a river race through less than class 1 rapids.\nInflatables are recommended but hard boards will be allowed at your own risk.  Fins shorter than 6 inch are recommended.\nWe will not be responsible for any damage. \nRentals\nRentals will be available @ $40 per board on a first come basis.
