IT’S ON! Â The Great Lakes Paddle Games, hosted by long time Ontario SUP Series supporters, Ash and Tonya Adams, of West Shore Surf Shop in Kincardine, Ontario.
Once again West Shore Clothing + Surf brings the Ontario SUP Series to Kincardine’s Station Beach. SUP Racers will battle it out at Kincardine’s Station Beach on a very unique race course that zig zaps in and out of the harbour – a race course layout that gives a fun up close spectator/racer experience. IF conditions line up for a downwind race (like 2019!) we will consider a point to point race. Â IF the downwind conditions present themselves, we MAY alter the schedule and will provide detailed instructions regarding start times, locations etc. in the days leading up to the race. Â THIS WILL be a late call if the opportunity exists, so please keep up to date by following us on Facebook and/or Instagram. Â Note, anyone that opts out of the downwind race will receive a full refund of their registration fee.
There are several race categories and distances. Elite (10-12 KM), Open (6 KM), Novice and Novice u18 (2-3 KM) and Kids (<1 KM). Everyone who is interested will have an opportunity to participate. Â Under the Downwind scenario, we will only offer two categories, Elite (12-15 KM) and Open (5-6 KM). Â Our Kids race will be free of charge (approx 500M) and our Novice U18 division will be at a discounted registration rate of $20. Â Our Novice U18 is a new category for this year, introduced to provide youth racers a longer course option than our FREE kids race. Â The Novice U18 division will race the same course as other Novice racers, typically around 2-3 km in length. Â Also new for this season to promote new participants all NOVICE racers will pay a reduced entry fee of $30 per race (vs. $50 for Open and Elite categories).
